A daisy-family flower grown from tubers, native to the highlands of Mexico and Central America, and the national flower of Mexico. It blooms from midsummer into fall in nearly every colour but blue, from button-sized pompons to heads as wide as a dinner plate.

Meaning

Dignity and elegance. The Victorians gave a dahlia to pledge themselves to someone for good, which still makes it a fine flower for an anniversary.
